Free serving tray

This is a prototype of a maple serving tray I will soon be offering. It features a maple frame with a very highly figured Bubinga wood tray. It also has very finely mitered corners, measures 9-1/4 in. by 12-1/4 in. by 1-5/8 in. tall. Plenty big enough for 4 large Double glasses and a bottle of your favorite spirit or your favorite wine, cork screw and 4 glasses. I may offer it with cherry frame with an exotic wood veneer tray base. The Bubinga trays will not last for long. They will go quick. Just wait until the finish is on and I shoot a close up of the tray. Bubinga is a very prized wood sought after artists and fine furniture makers. This is some of the finest there is! This tray will shine very brightly for a very long time.
I will let you know the rest of the details probably tomorrow.

These are some stopper holders I came up with the other day and will be offered for free with the purchase of a wine and spirit stopper  of your choice .  More on that later!

Ciao for now,

Mark

I made this rocking horse  just for fun for our daughter for her birthday in the fall but we noticed she was not tripping over this particular pair of PJ's anymore. So it just so happened to be fathers day weekend, (Saturday) and I brought it out for her. So one little fall and she climbed back on as they say, and She is rocking away. I just put the bridle and reins on today so it is officially finished now. Click here to look at all our products

Book shelves and settee

 Cherry settee!
It is a bit hard to see but the 2 inch thick and 19 inch wide settee turned out very nice indeed. If you look closely on the left end in the front of the bench you can see one of the eleven brackets supporting the bench.

Freestanding shelves!

Looking from below two of the shelves you can see
the hardwood frame ( in satin black) supporting the 2 inch thick by 11 inch wide shelves. Notice the knot and 100 year old nail holes on the front edge of the bottom shelf.

The finished product.
This is the space I had to work with.
There is 59 inches in width  and 9 feet ceilings on each side of the fireplace. I don't know what the ghost lines around the shelves are but they were not part of the finished product... Very strange! The yellow dump truck finishes things off, 4 sure.

Hello,
After two knee surgeries and 3 rounds of injections in both knees I am back in action. And it feels good to be back! I have made another two cases for the Army Corps of Engineers here in St. Louis, MO. The first case I made from solid White Oak with raised panel doors framed in with a nice rail and stile detail Mr. Adam Rockwell from The Corps designed. There were some engineering challenges I had to work out because it had to be made to be taken apart to carry it on to the river barge yet not compromise the integrity of the river model. With all that said I believe it turned out very sturdy and attractive. The final sanding and finishing was left up to the client to meet the budget.
Let me know what you think.
Side view of case. The front two doors open and the lid lifts up
for presentations. I used White Oak because it is less susceptible
to moisture damage.

Wine & Spirit Stopper of the Week

Stopper of the week- Handmade Wine & Spirit Stopper

Stopper of the week- Handmade Wine & Spirit Stopper
This beautiful domestic wood is called quilted maple. As with all my wine stopper wood, it is musical instrument grade wood, the highest grade available. The color, grain and hardness of this wood make for a very durable and desirable stopper for wine, Scotch, Bourbon, Vodka, Port wines, Brandy oil, vinegar and on and on. Don't miss out on this great deal with it's authentic Malachite polished stone embellishment on top of this beautiful stopper.
The complete stopper measures 1-1/4 inches wide and 3-3/4 inches long. The solid wood portion of the stopper is about 1-1/4 inches wide by 1-3/4 inches tall, including the 3/4 inch diameter glass embellishment. The stopper body is 100% solid stainless steel, not plated. This will not tarnish from the acidic tannin's found in wine or spirits. It comes with a one year warranty form the date of purchase.
Starting today March 18 to March 25th this stopper is on sale on my Etsy store for $22.50. That's a savings of $27.00 from the original price of $49.50.
